This was the reply sent to mark concerning the revenue sharing model for banshee.
Mark, Please do note the following.
1. Ur explanation of the whole situation is most confusing.
2. U have not taken any stand.
3. Ignorance of law is also a crime. Ignorance of the banshee scenario is no explanation for such a heavily debated topic
4. Banshee or any other "free as in freedom" developers do not need ur advice. They very well know how to make money or not from their favorite project.
5. Your re-iteration of telling the banshee developers to develop "their" project, improve "their" project, think about only "their" projects is something that will not be taken easily by the "free as in freedom" developers.
6. Ubuntu is "your" project. So go ahead and do whatever u want with it.
7. Since u dont like nasty comments here please head out to my blog, If u have time(And if u think that it might give ur monetary returns).
8. "U" and "U"buntu are here at this commanding position because of the "free as in freedom" developers(gnome, linux kernel, open office, kvm, qemu, firefox, X, all the plethora of window managers, GNU/Debian and all the fantastic "free as in freedom" developers.
9. U seem to be interested only in the beatification of GNU/Linux.
10. U have spent only "dollars" in making brand ubuntu known(If allowed, u might have a windows kernel if it was free.)
11. U in fact should have spent those "dollars" in making the world understand "free as in freedom" software.
12. stop aping Apple.

No. The community is also involved. I too have contribution in it and I won't accept if it is called a "Shuttleworth project". Sure he funds, but no cannot underestimate the work of thousands of other volunteers.

Contradicts yours point 6 where you called Ubuntu Mark's project.

Jesus! Why acting so ignorant? You even know what else work is being done? Ever heard of desktopcouch? Heard of Upstart? Heard of Software Center? etc etc.
BTW beautification is also as important thing as features. UI/UX is also as important as features. You have your priorities in wrong place. Probably right place for you, but not for the larger Ubuntu project.

How? Open a school? Isn't Ubuntu spreading the "Free as in Freedom" software? This is a just too much stupid point which does not deserve a furthur reply.

Get this fact straight. Apple has done great UI/UX advancements. There is nothing wrong in copying the good concepts and leaving behind the bad ones. Actually inspiration is one of the important values in the field of technology.
Lastly your bio says "Hardcore GNU/Linux Enthusiast", you I don't blame these knee-jerk and vague comments. It is expected. I prefer being called "A pragmatic GNU/Linux enthusiast"

5. The ubuntu project is not driven by contributors. It is the other way. The contributors are directed/driven by Mark and his closer associates.
7. This is the first blog where I encountered a line about "nasty comments". I think mark(nor u) has not dared to join any chat rooms.
8. "U" is for Mark, so there is no contradiction.
9. a. desktopcouch is not interesting and I can live without it and use my Debian GNU/Linux system without that.
9.b. There are many parallel projects similar to upstart and equal or better. Ubuntu wanted to stand apart from the crowd. Thats it.
9.c. software center is re-packaged "package manager" which GNU/Linux had for years. It is an apple inspired(aped) package manager.
9. etc. etc.... Name it.
10. Thats ur perception. All these years the freedom software eco-system has survived only on the "itch" of developers.
11. Just name Ubuntu as Ubuntu GNU/Linux. Thats all.
12. There is scope for a radical change in the desktop experience. What is that "radical" "killer" change? I dont know. But it will come out not by aping some other existing tech but out of "radical" thinking.
Lastly, Thanx for not editing ...."GNU/Linux enthusiast". I dont bother about the first word.
